The major heritage site of the Aven d’Orgnac Cave provides a breath – taking natural spectacle! Its numerous aspects comprise the fabulous cave, the City of Prehistory, caving trips, hiking paths and a varied range of events. The Aven d’Orgnac Cave has been recognised as one of France’s 14 Major Heritage Sites since 2004.
Descending the 121 metres into the Aven d’Orgnac Cave is a dizzying experience, a voyage of discovery through time and space, enhanced by a subtle play of light, creating a magical world. The site also offers caving trips for enthusiasts.
The City of Prehistory
With introductions, demonstrations, prehistory workshops, guided tours and puzzles, the City of Prehistory offers young and old alike a wealth of educational activities, which turn back time and make learning fun. Complementing the Aurignacien Gallery at the Pont d’Arc Cavern, this museum space covers 350,000 years of human experience. The A ven d’Orgnac Cave site is open from 1st February to 15th November.
